OCONEE Co., S.C. (WSPA) — The City of Westminster advises water system customers to boil their water pending test results.

A boil water advisory was issued Wednesday morning for residents in the Westminster water distribution system.

In a post on the cityโ€™s Facebook page, public works officials said theyโ€™re testing samples to determine if there was any contamination from the accidental release of water before bacteriological samples were obtained following a routine tank inspection and washout.

Customers are urged to boil water for at least one minute before drinking or cooking until further notice.

โ€œWe are currently working to obtain the necessary samples within the system to determine the quality of the water. Drinking water regulations require we obtain two satisfactory results within a 24 hour period before lifting this โ€˜ boil water advisory,โ€™โ€ according to the post.

Anyone with questions is asked to call the  City of Westminster water treatment plant at 864-647-3219.
