GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – Greenville Police say a wig-wearing bank robbery suspect is in custody and is accused of two armed bank robberies.

Police say Preston Emmanuel Hancock, 23, of Fludd St. was arrested around 9 p.m. Monday night.

He is accused of robbing the BB&T Bank on Hampton Ave. on Nov. 15 and Bank of Travelers Rest on North Pleasantburg Drive on Nov. 19.

Police say Hancock was captured in Anderson Co. after trying to run from the sheriff’s office and SLED.

They say Hancock abandoned the vehicle he was driving and ran into the woods.

He was quickly found and arrested by Anderson Co. Deputies.

He was transported to Greenville Monday night and is in the detention center.

Police say both robberies happened in the banks’ drive-thru.

Hancock was wearing a wig and hat during the robberies, according to the report.

Investigators say Hancock drove up to the teller window, gave them a note demanded money and showed a gun.

He left with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the report.

Hancock is charged with:

– Robbery (2 counts)

– Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime (2 counts)

– Felon in Possession of a Firearm

“We could not be more appreciative of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and SLED for their professionalism and quick response in taking this dangerous individual into custody so that he is no longer able to victimize our community,” said GPD Capt. Howie Thompson.
