(WSPA) — The entire Blue Ridge Parkway is closed due to winter weather.
The Parkway announced the closing in a Facebook post on Wednesday morning.
Ice, snow and sleet caused the 469-mile Parkway to close.
A winter storm warning and a winter weather advisory remain in effect for parts of western North Carolina and the South Carolina mountains until noon Wednesday.
On Tuesday night, McDowell County Emergency Management announced that eastbound I-40 was closed at mile marker 68 due to icy conditions.
Several schools have announced delays and closings.
