SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA) – Wofford College showed off the installation of two new pieces of art commissioned specifically for the Rosalind Sallenger Richardson Center for the Arts, Thursday morning.

Invited media was given a sneak peak at the pieces of art from Dale Chihuly as members of his team worked to finish the installation.

“Including the Chihuly sculpture, I mean it really just knocks it out of the park makes it exceptionally distinctive to the Upstate, to the state, and honestly to liberal arts colleges across the country,” says Annie Mitchell, VP of Marketing and Communications at Wofford.

Chihuly and his team worked with the Richardson family and representatives from Wofford College to design the art which is colored to match fall foliage.

The 65,000 square foot arts center will be home to academic programs in theater arts, visual arts, and art history when it opens in the Spring.

The center includes a 300-seat performance hall, an art museum, gallery for student work, classrooms, and studios for acting, costume design, and painting.
