Woman charged in Asheville shooting


ASHEVILLE, NC (WSPA) – Asheville Police Department officials said a woman has been charged following a shooting Friday afternoon.

According to police department news release, officers responded to Melton Drive on Friday just after 12:30 p.m. in reference to a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers located the female victim and she was taken to Mission Hospital.

According to police, the victim was in serious, but stable condition.

Lindsay Irene Ellis, 35, of Asheville was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Ellis was taken to the Buncombe County Detention Center on $50,000 bond.
