TOXAWAY, N.C. (WSPA) — A woman is dead after falling Thursday from Rainbow Falls.
Lake Toxaway Deputy Chief Bobby Cooper said the 24-year-old woman and a friend were swimming between Turtle Back Falls and Rainbow Falls when she fell about 185 feet from the falls around 4 p.m.
Her body was recovered around 8 p.m.
This marks the third fatal fall from a waterfall in Transylvania County since May, according to Cooper.
He urges people to stay away from slick rocks at the top of the falls.
The United States Forest Service is investigating.
