ANDERSON CO., SC (WSPA) – A woman was rescued from her burning home by an off-duty volunteer firefighter Thursday in Anderson Co.

The fire happened on Pineland Meadows Road, the home suffered smoke damage.

The firefigher, Michael Ryan, was driving past the scene when he noticed smoke coming from the home. While checking the house, he found the woman inside her bedroom closet.

A 7News crew at the scene witnessed the victim’s husband hugging her rescuer, Ryan.

The woman was taken to AnMed Health Medical Center and is expected to survive.
