GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) — The Greenville County Coroner’s Office identified the body that was found in Greenville Wednesday morning.

Deputy Coroner Kent Dill said the body was discovered in the 800 block of Pendleton Street around 7:45 a.m.

Dill said the body was in a complex where former medical offices were located between the 800 block of Pendleton Street and the 500 block of Arlington Avenue.

Coroner Kent Dill identified the body found as that of Erica Antida Butler, 45, of Greenville.

An autopsy was performed on Wednesday. The cause and manner of Butler’s death has not yet been released.

That area of Pendleton Street was blocked to traffic earlier, as several investigators were at the scene on Wednesday.

Greg Campbell runs a business in the complex off of Pendleton Street and says one of his employees heard a man outside yelling that someone was dead.

“A gentleman that was walking by said there’s a body in front of the next building down,” said Campbell.

Neighbor Larissa Troupe says she heard the commotion and walked over to see what was going on.

“I was like ‘oh my god,’ this is not what you wake up to on your Wednesday morning expecting on your way to work,” said Troupe.

People in the area left feeling uneasy wondering how the body got there and what happened.
