Women business leaders respond to Sheriff Lewis indictments

A group of women business leaders that called on Greenville County Sheriff Will Lewis’ resignation days after he admitted to an extramarital affair are responding to indictments against him.

Those business leaders also created a Facebook page called “Will Resign”.  They also delivered a letter to County Council last October asking for support in having Lewis removed from office.

Governor Henry McMaster suspended Lewis from office on Tuesday after he was indicted on two charges for misconduct in office and obstruction of justice.

Greenville County businesswoman Stacy Kuper said, “We still have to see this through. I hope that he {Lewis} will take his family and his name into consideration and resign and get it out of the media and let us move on and let us go to a special election.”

Interim Sheriff Johnny Mack Brown has been sworn in after being asked to serve by Governor McMaster.

There will only be a special election if Lewis resigns or is convicted of his crimes.
