SPARTANBURG Co., S.C. (WSPA) — A Woodruff man is accused of abusing a dementia patient hospitalized with numerous injuries.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office charged Ernest Lee Allman, 55, with abuse of a vulnerable adult with great bodily injury.

On Feb. 8, Spartanburg County deputies responded to the emergency room of the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

A sheriff’s office report says the victim had several injuries while in Allman’s care.

Investigators say the victim suffers from dementia and other medical conditions.

The report says the victim had fractures, a broken wrist, hematoma and possible brain hemorrhage.

She reportedly had bruises all over her body, including both eyes, chest, hip, inner thigh and old bruising on her back.

Deputies say the victim could not recall how she was injured due to her diminished mental capacity.

Allman was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center on Sunday, May 12 and released later that day, according to jail records.
