Wrong name released in deadly I-85 crash in Anderson Co.

ANDERSON Co., S.C. (WSPA) — The coroner says a 12-year-old boy was killed in a crash on Interstate 85.

A Georgia family was traveling in an SUV that flipped Saturday morning in Anderson County.

Two passengers were killed in the crash.

The coroner’s office originally identified one of the victims killed as 20-year-old Nicholas Wolwark.

7News is told Nicholas was not killed in the crash.

On Wednesday, Josh Shore with the coroner’s office identified the victim as Nathan Wolwork. He was 12 years old.

Nathan and his sister, 15-year-old Kirana Wolwork, died from injuries they suffered when the SUV went off the road and flipped, according to the coroner.

The driver, a 17-year-old girl, was flown to Greenville Memorial Hospital for her injuries while the front seat passenger, a 57-year-old woman, was flown to AnMed Health Medical Center for her injuries.

Shore said the driver gave them the wrong name. Investigators later heard from a relative in Hawaii.

Shore said the girl remains in the hospital as of Wednesday.

We’re told Her mother is in the process of being released from the hospital.

The coroner previously said the mother and her three children are from Kennesaw, Georgia.
