Young alligator startles woman at NC City Hall

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A young alligator found his way to the Jacksonville City Hall on Tuesday morning.

The city shared photos of the gator’s encounter with a woman walking down New Bridge Street in front of the building on its Facebook page. She’s safe if a little startled by the unexpected visitor to city hall.

NC Wildlife officers helped to return the juvenile to the wild. The New River is only half a mile from city hall.

It’s estimated that the gator was around 2 – 3 feet long.
