CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) – Clemson guard Anthony Oliver II is leaving the men’s basketball program.
Tigers coach Brad Brownell announced Oliver’s intentions Friday.
Oliver, who played his high school basketball at Daniel, is the son of fired Tigers women’s basketball coach Audra Smith. The redshirt sophomore played 19 games last season for the 22nd-ranked Tigers, who reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
Oliver had a career best nine points against Boston College in an Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament victory last March.
Smith was let go after five seasons leading the women’s program. She is currently the head women’s basketball coach at South Carolina State. Her husband was part of her staff at Clemson. Her daughter is a freshman on Clemson’s volleyball.
Oliver thanked Clemson for his time there and wished the program “nothing but the best.”
