WASHINGTON (WSPA) – The White House is hosting the national champion Clemson Tigers football team on Monday, January 14.

President Donald Trump tweeted Friday saying he would be hosting the team at the White House.

“What a game, what a coach, what a team!” said President Trump in the tweet.

Clemson University confirmed the visit and released this statement:

”Clemson University’s football team, athletic department and university administration are looking forward to visiting the White House on Monday evening.”

The university is appreciative of the opportunity to participate in this time-honored White House tradition for the second time in three years as we celebrate Clemson’s commitment to excellence on and off the playing field, and our football team’s record-setting 2018 football season.”

It will conclude a busy week for the Tigers. They beat the Alabama Crimson Tide on January 7 to win the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Saturday, the Tigers will take part in a victory parade in Clemson.
