Daniel High School has promoted defensive coordinator Jeff Fruster as its new head football coach, two weeks after Randy Robinson left to take over the program at Berkeley High near Charleston.
Fruster played at Daniel from 1995 through 1998 and has served on the Lions coaching staff since 2006, coaching linebacker before taking on his most recent duties in 2011.
He’s just the fourth head coach at the Pickens County school since 1960 and takes over a program that has played for seven 3A state titles since 1988, winning championships in 1991, 1992, 1995, and 1998.
Robinson took the 2013 team to the state championshp game, falling to Myrtle Beach.
