Laurens School District 56 announced Friday morning the hiring of former Lamar head coach Corey Fountain to guide Clinton High School.

Fountain won two state titles in five seasons guiding the Darlington County school and posted a 55-12 record and his teams played for four state championships.

His 2017 team went 14-0 en route to the 1A crown. In 2015, he led his team to the 1A Division II title.

He replaces Andrew Webb, who was dismissed following this past season after years on the job. The Red Devils finished 2-8 and have eight straight losing seasons. Prior to its recent drought, the program endured just three losing campaigns since 1990 and owns eight state titles, its last coming in 2009.
