Mann, Eastside, and SCS won their respective matches Monday night to qualify for this weekend’s state championship soccer matches at Irmo High School near Columbia.
Mann downed Clover on the road, 4-1, and faces Lexington Saturday at 4:30pm as the Patriots look to repeat at 5A champs.
Eastside avenged a playoff loss last season to South Aiken, defeating the Thoroughbreads, 2-1, in penalty kicks. The Eagles take on Hilton Head Island Friday at 7pm for the 4A crown. Eastside’s last state title came in 2007 while in 3A.
Southside Christian defeated rival CCES, 4-1, and now faces Academic Magnet of Charleston Friday at 2pm in 2A. The Sabres seek their first state championship.
Woodruff fell, 6-0, to Indian Land in the 3A upper state match.
In softball, Byrnes defeated Fort Mill, 2-1, to advance in the winner’s bracket in 5A upper state play. Fort Mill faces Boiling Springs in an elimination game Wednesday. The Bulldogs survived by defeating Mann, 2-1.
Union County beat North Augusta 1-0 to remain unblemished in the 4A upper state bracket. Palmetto defeated Woodruff, 3-0, in 3A. Landrum was a 2-0 winner over Andrew Jackson in 2A.
Hanna defeated Nation Ford, 5-0, in a 5A baseball elimination game and the Yellow Jackets now visit Dorman Wednesday evening. South Aiken eliminated Greenville, 4-1, in 4A while Indian Land was a 3-2 winner over Pendleton in a 3A elimination game.
Ninety Six rallied from a 4-0 deficit to defeat Cheraw, 9-4, in a 2A elimination game.
