Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia went two-for-three in his first of three games this weekend for the Greenville Drive.
The Drive lost their season-opening game to West Virginia, 1-0, in 10 innings.
Pedroia, coming back from two surgeries on his left knee within the past two years, flied to right in his first plate appearance in the opening inning.
He singled in the fourth, walked in the sixth, and doubled in the eighth. He was removed after the inning as part of a defensive switch but handled several chances at second base over the first eight inning.
Pedroia will play again Friday, rest for Saturday’s game, and then be back in the line-up for Sunday afternoon’s finale.
