Clemson, S.C–Clemson golfers Doc Redman, Bryson Nimmer and Turk Pettit have all been named to All-American teams by the Golf Coaches Association of America.   Nimmer  was named a second team All-American, while Redman and Pettit were both named to the honorable mention team.

Earlier this month, Nimmer and Redman were named second-team All-Americans by Golfweek and Pettit was named to the honorable mention team.

It was the second season Redman and Nimmer were named All-American.  Redman was a third-team selection last year and Nimmer was an honorable mention.  It was obviously Pettit’ first selection as he just finished his freshman year.  Pettit did make the Freshman All-American team as chosen by the Golf Coaches Association.

Nimmer led the Clemson team in stroke average this year with a 70.50 figure.  He had eight top 10 finishes in his 11 tournaments, including a seventh-place at the NCAA National Tournament in late May.  He finished with 12 rounds in the 60s and 21 rounds under par.   Nimmer finished the season with a streak of six consecutive top 10 finishes.

Redman was close behind Nimmer in the race for top stroke average honors with a 70.59.  A sophomore this past year, Redman won the United States Amateur  last August and played in the  Masters in April.  The native of Raleigh, NC played just seven tournaments this past year, but had three top 10 finishes, including a second place at the ACC Tournament and second-place at the NCAA Regional.  He finished 15th at the NCAA National Tournament.

Redman turned professional after the NCAA Tournament and will play in the PGA Tour’s Quicken Loan Invitational near Washington, D.C. next weekend.

Pettit had a 70.97 stroke average as a freshman in 2017-18.  He was a significant reason Clemson finished first or second in every regular season spring event when Redman was out of the lineup.   Pettit won the Irish Creek Invitational in April.  He had a streak of four straight top three finishes, just one short of the Clemson record.
