University of South Carolina President Bob Caslen released this statement Wednesday after the fallout from a quote earlier in the week in which he noted to the Florence Morning News that athletic director Ray Tanner has reached out to Florida State to learn how they went about buying-out their head coach Willie Taggart earlier this fall for $18 million, an amount similar to what USC would have to pay Will Muschamp if they dismissed after this season:

South Carolina is 4-7 overall in Muschamp’s fourth season and faces Clemson November 30th in the annual Palmetto Rivalry showdown.
