7News crew helps save pet monkey in Spartanburg

SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA) — A pet marmoset monkey that escaped her owner outside a Spartanburg restaurant has been found.

7News crew at the scene was there when the owner got the monkey out of a tree only yards away from where she went missing around 7:45 pm Thursday.

Earlier Friday morning, police urged folks not to approach or try to capture the monkey named Blossom.

Police said in a post on social media that the pet marmoset escaped from its owner on the eastside of Spartanburg.

The monkey made her escape at the Pizza Inn restaurant at 2225 E Main St.

Police say she’s friendly but scared, and may try to get inside of vehicles or houses because she’s afraid to be alone.

7News is told the monkey got loose around 7:45 p.m. Thursday. She jumped out of the cab of her owner’s pick-up truck while it was parked in front of the restaurant.
