Thursday deputies responded to a home on South Carolina Avenue for a wanted person. Deputies say 39-year-old Darius Holcomb threatened them with a knife and barricaded himself in a room. The sheriff’s office then removed family from the home and began negotiating with Holcomb. Once negotiations and tear gas failed deputies say Holcomb began stabbing a K9 sent into the bedroom where he had barricaded himself, that is when a deputy shot him. Holcomb’s family gathered at the Spartanburg County sheriff’s office Monday afternoon for a news conference.
