SPARTANBURG, CO, SC (WSPA) – Thursday, Valentine’s Day is about showing loved ones you care with gifts.
In Spartanburg, AR Workshop is a place that teaches customers how to make their own gifts. The DIY, do-it-yourself, workshops typically have a theme or a specific items to create.
For Valentine’s Day, instead of the traditional gifts of jewelry, chocolate, or flowers, AR Workshop hosted a DIY date night.
Couples pick out their craft and are taught how to sand, scale, and paint. Many of the options use power tools, which could be a good or bad thing owner Anne Marie Brooks joked.
Brooks said the workshop allows drinks and food regularly and large groups of friend, family and solo projects are allowed.
For the Valentine’s Day workshop dinner, drinks, and flowers are provided in the workshop price. It’s the very first couples night event at AR Workshop, Brooks said the real gift isn’t the dinner, drinks, or flowers, it’s making something together.
“You can make a tray. You can make a plank sign, lazy Susan, clocks, blanket,” Brooks said,”hangers, chalkboard organizers, pillows, you name it.”
The average workshop item takes around 3 hours from start to finish. Brooks said each workshop has staff on hand to make sure the finished piece looks like something you’ll want to take home.
While the Valentine’s Date Workshop is full, Brooks said there are still some other options, to see click here.
