GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – Friday, the Reedy River Duck Derby happens on Saturday, May 4th, running from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The duck races start at 2:30 p.m.
The Rotary Club of the Reedy River Greenville raised nearly $70,000 dollars from the 2018 Duck Derby. Incoming Rotary Club President Wendy Green said the goal is to match and then exceed that!
The club aims for as many as 10,000 rubber ducks to float down the river on Saturday.
The first 55 rubber ducks to cross the finish line win grand prizes. Top prize winner earns $1 Million dollars in free Publix groceries for a year, and second place is $2,500 cash prize.

Race participants can purchase or ‘adopt a duck’ for the race: one duck = $10 dollars or four ducks = $30 dollars.
After the race, attendees are cannot able to keep their ducks, but they can keep peace of mind knowing their money will go to local charities, Green added.
“We’ve really found our niche to offer entertainment, as well as, a way to give back to your community. So, it’s a win-win all the way around for the community. And it just make it a better place to live,” Green said.
