To celebrate Prince Harry and Megan Markle’s royal wedding Saturday, 40 women in hats and fancy dresses gathered at the Polk County Library Tuesday for a free tea party.
The library teamed up with the Hendersonville tea shop “A Southern Cup Fine Teas” to serve tea, scones and finger sandwiches. The owner of the shop, Kim Brown, gave the group tea etiquette lessons and explained what Markle will have to master before becoming the Duchess of Sussex.
Royal book lists and trivia questions about the couple were passed out, and there was a best hat competition. The prize was a collector’s wedding plate of Harry and Megan. The library even had a royal photo booth set up, so guests could take a picture with the royal couple before the wedding.
A Southern Cup Fine Teas is holding another tea party on the day of the wedding, and is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11am-5pm.
CBS will cover the royal wedding live Saturday morning from 4am-10am EST. The actual ceremony starts at 7 am EST.
