Anderson, S.C. (WSPA) – Upstate YMCAs will host Water Safety Week April 15th – April 19th for interested swimmers ages four and up.
During Water Safety Week, some YMCA locations will offer free swimming lessons and drowning prevention methods every day for both paid and non-YMCA members.
Since the world is more than 70% water, Aquatics Instructor Madison Wesley said everyone may not plan to go swimming, its just best to be prepared no matter your age.
“Everyone should know how to at least be able to float on their back and be able to jump in and swim back to the wall. That’s key for everybody because adults can drown just as easily as kids. It’s still in the top five risks of accidental deaths in adults is drowning,” Wesley said.
Registration is open and there is no cap.
